Bear Lake State Park offers a distinct experience within the high desert landscape of Rich County, Utah. The park’s most striking feature is the vibrant, turquoise hue of the lake, a visual effect created by suspended calcium carbonate minerals reflecting the sunlight. This unique geological characteristic draws visitors who appreciate the contrast between the bright blue water and the surrounding rugged terrain.

The park is divided into three main areas, each offering a different atmosphere. The Marina, located on the west shore near Garden City, provides a seven-lane launch ramp and accommodates up to 361 boats with slips available from May through October. This area is ideal for those seeking to access the water for sailing, boating, or fishing. For those preferring a more grounded experience, the Rendezvous Beach area in the southwest corner offers four distinct campgrounds: Birch, Big Creek, Cottonwood, and Willow. These sites provide a quiet retreat for campers looking to connect with the natural environment.

Visitors can explore the landscape on foot, taking in the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The park is open year-round, with gates typically opening in the early morning. This accessibility allows for year-round exploration, whether one is interested in summer water sports or winter activities in the nearby mountains. The park serves as a central hub for outdoor enthusiasts, providing a range of amenities and opportunities for recreation in the heart of northern Utah.
