Anasazi State Park Museum, located in Boulder, Utah, offers a unique window into the region’s ancient history. Situated at an elevation of 6,700 feet, the site is home to the Coombs Site, an archaeological site featuring an Ancestral Puebloan village that was likely occupied between 1050 and 1200 A.D. This location is particularly significant as it represents one of the largest communities west of the Colorado River. The site is also notable for its unique position at the intersection of the Ancestral Puebloan and Fremont cultures, resulting in a distinct "melting pot" of traits visible in the artifacts and architecture found here.
Visitors can explore the museum, which includes a gift shop, an auditorium, and an information center providing maps and details about the surrounding area. Outside the museum, guests can tour a life-sized replica of a six-room ancient dwelling, offering a tangible sense of daily life in the past. The museum, archaeological site and gift shop are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The park is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. For reservations, directions, or further information, guests can contact the park manager at 435-335-7308. Anasazi State Park Museum provides a quiet, educational experience for those interested in the rich cultural heritage of southern Utah.
